Debate 2014

We tried something different with our Debate this year... it was a huge success!  We wanted to be more in touch with the South African issues and problems our learners face.

We took on the Moot Competition.  It is a competition to promote law, and the training of attorneys in South Africa, as well as a better understanding og our justice system.

Magistrates Court in Pretoria

Two of our learners, Tebogo Mathenjwa and Sibahle Majozi wrote essays about Law and justice and were chosen to represent President at the 4th Annual National Moot competition in Pretoria.  They went to the Magistrate Court in Pretoria to argue a case, as attorneys would.  It is an amazing experience and they came 7th in Gauteng!  Out of more than 500 high school entries, President's "attorneys" came 7th in the province!  We are very proud of them and Miss' Neveling and Spies who coached them and organized the logistics.

Our debate team also participated in a competion launched by Law Enforcement against Drugs and Crime. This is something that President feels very strong about and we did our utmost to participate in the debate surrounding especially drugs and drug related crimes as it is something we have to get rid off.

"This issue is close to our hearts and we have to discuss, debate and work at it to ensure that drugs and the crimes related to it doesn't hurt our school and community!" - Miss H Neveling

Our learners performed very well and we are proud of them. After this our debate team can only grow and become stronger.
